Armstrong Athletic Scholarship Fund
Participation in sports enriches children's lives in many ways. Children who play a sport for their middle or high school are more likely to feel a sense of school belonging. Academically, they out perform their peers who do not play sports, even through college and their early careers. Sports participation also reduces the risk of obesity, which has grown exponentially across generations, and teaches children leadership, cooperation, and self discipline. St. Francis has long recognized the value of sports, offering fifth through eighth graders the opportunity to compete as a St. Francis Wolf in several sports.
The school does not recruit top athletes from around the city, but instead encourages and supports participation among students of all levels of ability and experience. The sports program reflects Dustin's principles that the role of sport is to teach children a life long love of being physically active, as well as the joys and responsibilities that come with being a member of a team. Many of Coach Armstrong's athletes going on to shine in high school varsity and collegiate athletics. His influence on our school and community and the lives of many of our students has been profound.
In 2012, and athletic scholarship was funded in honor of Coach Dustin Armstrong.  Named the "Armstrong Athletic Scholarship," the award honors Dustin's dedication and commitment to St. Francis students.  The fund supports athletics at St. Francis School, specifically going toward athletic fees for families who otherwise would not be able to afford them.
